ATLANTA - The red-hot Atlanta Braves haven't need much help winning ballgames early in the 2009 season, but that's exactly what happened in Thursday's 4-3 victory over the Marlins.
The Braves got off to a fast start after a 3-run home run from Casey Kotchman in the top of the 1st inning off of Marlins' starter Anibal Sanchez. That was nearly all the offense the Braves would muster against Sanchez as they'd tally just 3 hits in Sanchez's 8 innings.
The Marlins would get on the board in the 3rd inning with a Hanley Ramirez RBI single, and Dan Uggla would pull the Marlins even with solo shots in the 4th and 6th innings. The score would remain tied at 3-3 entering the bottom of the 9th inning.
Yunel Escobar would lead off with a single off of young righty Leo Nunez. Veteran slugger Garret Anderson would follow with a deep shot to right fielder Cody Ross who would miss play the fly ball. Escobar would make it all the way around from first scoring the winning run on Ross's three-base error.
